Drew and Kayla Engagements

I don’t know how I get so lucky with such gorgeous people to photograph! Really… how cute is this couple? They’ve been dating for a while but they just recently got engaged. So recently, that I’m designing her invitations right now and the wedding is only a month away! Yay, for overnight printers! In the attempt to find an awesome invitation for these guys while I was attending WPPI this week, I somehow bought my share to be a distributor/consultant for an invitation company. I’m still not exactly sure how this happened…. but I do love their products so I’m excited to use my images on their invitations. The invitations are through Stylart.com but they can only be bought through a distributor….. which I now just so happen to be! I bought a ton of really fun new equipment so I’m excited for all of my upcoming shoots to use some new techniques.

I just want to say thank you to anyone that I’ve taken pictures for in the past and future. I feel like I learn something every time I pick up my camera and I’m so grateful to be able to photograph such nice, willing, exciting, passionate people. I really do love WPPI because it makes me excited for the future and so inspired to be an artist. Sorry, I really like to ramble and get off the subject. Even though I met Drew and Kayla for the first time at this shoot, they are both so openly fun and I hope you can see that through their images. Wedding images soon to follow!

So I try to stay under around 10 images or less in my posts…..shoot! I’m not quite sure if it’s because WPPI started today or what, but I this post has 24 images! So like I said WPPI started today and I am sooooooo excited to go this week and talk to other photographers, take classes and most importantly… recharge and inspire my lazy brain to fall in love with photography….. again.

For some reason I start to get really burned out about this time of year. I think it’s because of tax season when I find out how much $$ I actually made the year before after all my expenses and it’s never what I think it’s going to be. Then I have a conversation with myself inside my head and wonder if it’s even worth it. Is it worth the time away from my family esp. my two little girls, the constant stress and headaches (which now include 3 visits to the chiropractor weekly), no business hours and my never ending “to do” list? THEN, I go to WPPI and I listen to these amazing photographers and within seconds I remember why do I do this. I’m in love with it. I love the gift of being able to give others memories. I love to hand someone a beautiful wedding album and know that they love it even more than I do. I love to leave my house and be “Amy” not just “mommy” for a few hours every week. I love that when I’m gone I miss my little girls so so much and I’m a better mother when I come home. I love to use my creative and crazy mind to try to think of something different and have fun with amazing people that I get to photograph. I love during engagements and weddings to ask a couple to kiss and to see the spark and excitement in their eyes. I love to compare images SOOC (straight out of camera) to processed and see the work I’ve done. As corny as this sounds, my vanity loves to hear the comments from others, both good and bad. I want to always be learning and evolving so that I can be respected as an artist and not just a mom with a hobby. I really am on cloud nine right now and I am so excited to learn and experiment this week during my classes. Don’t worry, I promise to spend tons of money on new equipment at the trade show (like every year) so that my profits drop drastically, but I guess I don’t have to feel bad about that until next February!!!!!! Cristian & Jennifer Engagements

We had been trying to pick a nice day to set up an engagement session, but with all of our crazy Las Vegas rain, we were very fortunate to have blue skies! Brooke - Wonderful Amy! Love these.. the color and clarity and yes, those eyes and that skin! If only we were all so blessed! These are fabulous! And.. I still owe you pizza!! I haven't forgotten!!

My Little Girls!

I couldn’t resist putting these images up! Sometimes if I’m doing a session at a fun location, I’ll load the whole family in the car and my hubby will go adventure with my little girls while I’m shooting. I snapped these a few minutes before my engagement session started (two posts down). I love these images so much. The girls are getting so big and even more beautiful everyday. I wish I was better at getting around to shooting their portraits….and maybe one day I’ll have a wedding album too!

Jeanna Hayes - Your girls are SO beautiful, Amy!!! I've wanted to do that, too - bring my family to a cool location. Unfortunately, it's always after the fact and then I'm too lazy to actually do it! Sad! :) I adore the texture of her jacket in the last photo. That mixed with her stunning eyes make for SUCH an amazing picture!

Lair Family

It’s always fun to get a call back from someone that I’ve done portraits for in the past. I did Julia’s wedding a few years ago and she wanted to give her mom a family portrait session for Christmas. The only problem was that these guys wouldn’t let me stop taking their picture. I had to finally call it after hours of them posing, smiling and wanting more and more shots! Anyone who has EVER had portraits done with a male knows that I’m full of crap. Us girls definitely love the whole picture experience more than the guys…. but these guys were actually a lot of fun. Here’s my favorites!

James Lair - the pictures turned out amazing. I had no idea that they would look that good. haha but i must say the one with my mother and father on the main page with her looking down and smiling is rather scary :P the rest are awesome

Ross & Cinthia Engagements

I’ve known Cinthia since a was a crazy teenager! We got in a lot of trouble together in the good ol’ days. Now we’re both getting older…I’ve got a family with two kids and she’s tying the knot. I didn’t think Cinthia would ever get married….. by her own choice! Ross must be a really special guy to make Cinthia settle down. I always feel a little awkward when my friends need pictures because I don’t want anyone to ever feel obligated to hire me, BUT I would love to be their photographer. Next December I will be shooting their wedding and from what Cinthia has told me, it will definitely be amazing! I’m really happy for them and I wish them lots of love and happiness in the future. Here’s my fav’s from their shoot!

Brady & Janay Wedding Day

You might have already seen Janay and Brady in older posts from their engagements and bridals. I was so excited to see props from the bridesmaids. They all had these bright green, paper umbrellas. What a great idea! They worked great for the reception decorations and I, of course, loved them in my pictures! They had a late sealing so it was a good thing that we did a bridal session because the sun did not give us any extra time for formals. Here’s some of the images we got that day.

sarahrfakih@gmail.com - I got your information from Brooke Ashley. I am interested in doing some engagement photos here in Vegas. My fiance and I are getting married in June, so the earlier the better. What do you charge for a couple hours of shooting? It will be interesting and possibly open a whole new market for you, since we are of Indian/Arab decent, and there are few photographers in Vegas that cater to our community! I hope to hear from you soon!

Sarah Maternity

Now that the holidays have come and gone, so has some of my craziness! I am now shooting and booking portraits again so contact me if you would like to book a session. Portraits are $200 and that comes with a $50 credit for enlargements.

Now back to more important things. How beautiful is this pregnant body? There aren’t many words that I even want to say about this shoot because I think the images will speak enough for themselves. Congratulations on your precious gift!

woody & amy wedding day

What a beautiful couple! The bride’s side of the family is what her mom called “camera happy”. So I shot away… and away…… and away! I think if you were to stack up all of the prints I think you could make a flip book and just watch a movie of the entire day! OK, so I’m a little dramatic, but I did take LOTS of pictures! Amy and Woody are model perfect and crazy in love. The night was perfect and the atmosphere was beautiful. A little live music and we had ourselves a great time! Here’s a few of my favorites!
